What can six hundred square feet hold? +

Four or five distinct zones with room to move between them: reception, demo, meeting, storage and usually a product wall or a lounge. The useful question is not how much fits but how many separate conversations you want happening at once, because that sets the zone count and the zone count sets the structure. Leave five feet or more on the main route.

Are these always island spaces? +

Usually island, not always, and it changes the design substantially. A 30x20 island has aisles on four sides and no back, so storage and staff space have to be enclosed within the build. A 30x20 against a wall gives you a back-of-house strip along the full thirty feet, which is worth a great deal at a long show. Get the confirmed orientation from the organizer.

How do I control sight lines across thirty feet? +

Think in layers rather than walls. Something tall and narrow at the centre works as a beacon from across the hall. Mid-height elements at four to six feet define zones without sealing them, and anything below waist height is furniture. A continuous thirty foot run of full-height wall reads as a barrier. Check height and set-back rules with the organizer.

What staffing does a stand this size need? +

Six to ten on the floor at any time, plus someone whose only job is running the stand rather than selling from it. That coordinator matters more than an extra salesperson: they handle the rota, the restocking, the leads and the problems. Divide the space into zones and assign people to zones, not to job titles. Plan a proper break area off the stand.

How should screens be distributed? +

By zone, sized to the surface each one sits on. A large panel in the demo area where people stand and watch, something smaller and quieter in the meeting zone, and a bright looping display facing the main aisle to pull traffic. One enormous central screen rarely earns its cost here, because most visitors are inside the stand rather than looking at it from a distance.

Where does back-of-house go? +

Build it. At this size you want an enclosed room, not a cupboard: somewhere to store cases, hang coats, charge devices, keep literature stock and take a difficult phone call. Six by eight feet in the least valuable corner is usually enough. Fit a lockable door, and ask the organizer whether the show removes and stores empty crates during the event.

What is different about freight at this scale? +

Volume, and the planning it demands. A 30x20 or larger ships free across Canada but moves as a large consignment and needs paperwork discipline: case numbers, a stage-by-stage packing list, and a photograph of the loaded pallet. Advance warehouse delivery is strongly preferable where the show offers it, so material is in the space before your crew lands. Drayage, forklift time, power and rigging come through show services.

When should I stop doing the install myself? +

At this size, for most exhibitors, now. A 30x20 wants a lead installer who has built the kit before, a crew of four or more, and a full day with the floor plan and the labour rules in hand. Confirm with the organizer whether the hall mandates its own crews for any of the work, as many do for suspended elements.

How do I go bigger than 30x20? +
