Non-Lit SEG Fabric Media Walls

This is the unlit half of the SEG range: single frames and panels where a silicone bead pushes into an aluminum channel for a seamless tensioned face, with no wiring and nothing to order from an electrical desk. It suits rooms that already carry light — skylit halls, ballrooms, showrooms and press walls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will an unlit graphic look dull in a convention hall? +
Not if the artwork is built for the room. What kills unlit displays is a design made on a bright monitor with dark backgrounds and subtle mid-tones, then hung under lighting aimed at the aisle. Push contrast up, keep large fields of colour clean and strong, and set type in weights that survive a photograph from ten feet away. Booth spotlights lift it further.
How much do I actually save going unlit? +
Look at the whole line rather than the frame alone. You skip the LED components, the venue electrical order, the extra freight weight and the setup time spent connecting and testing lights. Across two or three shows a year that becomes a real budget line — enough for a hard case or a second graphic. Compare the specific widths on their product pages.
Which height should I order? +
Order 8.2ft if the display is meant to be seen from the aisle, and 6.5ft only when it sits behind a table or under a low ceiling. The SEG Fabric Media Wall - 13ft W x 8.2ft H and the 8.2ft W x 8.2ft H both sit at that height, where the top of the graphic stays above people's heads. Check your show's maximum wall height first.
Does frame depth change anything besides looks? +
It changes rigidity and how the display behaves in transit. Deeper extrusion holds a wide graphic flatter and flexes less when a 16.4ft or 20ft face is standing on feet in a busy aisle. Slim profiles are lighter to carry and look sharper in a showroom. Under 10ft wide, a 2.4in or 3.15in profile is plenty; over 13ft, go deeper.
How long does one of these take to put up? +
Less time than the lit equivalent, because there is no wiring step. Two people can have a 9.8ft unlit wall standing and skinned in about twenty minutes: stand it on its feet, then start the silicone bead at one corner and ease the fabric along each side. Assembly is tool-free or uses one supplied key. One person can manage frames up to about 4ft wide alone.
What files should I send, and how do I order? +
Send the highest-quality version of each element rather than a flattened export, and say which face and size it is for. You get a free 2D mockup on the chosen frame and honest feedback if an image will not hold up at 8ft tall. Email support@backdropsource.ca with your files and your show date.
Can the same frame take a new graphic next year? +
That is the plan. The frame is the long-term purchase and the skin is not, so most repeat customers own one set of extrusion and several graphics. Swapping takes minutes: pull the bead out of the channel by hand, roll the old skin, feed the new one in. Keep the graphic away from the extrusion in the case, since aluminum edges mark folded polyester.
How is this different from the Non-Lit SEG Fabric Media Walls collection? +
This collection is the full unlit catalogue: wall-sized faces, oversize heights, curved frames and bare profiles you build to your own size. The media walls collection is the subset set up specifically as walls, including the wall-mounted depths for a fixed lobby or showroom installation. Stay here if you are choosing between a curved panel, a small flanking frame and a custom-size profile.
